had the priviledge of
spearheading the DVD division of a
leading music and film
entertainment distribution company, for whom
I aqcuired hundreds
of film, childrens and special interest properties for the
North
American retail market. "
Shifting
gears from 'a seller' to 'a buyer' a few years back, allowed me to peer
into the 'inner
sanctum' of acquisition tactics and negotiation, but it also gave me a
fresh perspective on just how fast the market is changing, and how
ruthless the competition is. Now that I am back on the in the camp of
content creators, I am far more clear on how, for buyers, getting the
right product, coupled
with the right artwork and market strategy in terms of price point and
timing, are the keys to success in 2008 in particular for distributors
in the retail
space.
